Going Deep: 4 Deep League Waiver Wire Adds for Week 7

Week 7 is here, and for the first time this season there are four teams on BYE with the Steelers, Packers, Seahawks and Raiders all off this week. With so many big name players off the board, we’ve reached the point in the fantasy football season when depth really starts to matter, and when the free agent pool becomes an even bigger factor in your team’s week-to-week success. Today, we’ll take a look at 4 deep league waiver wire adds that could become every week starters in the weeks to come.

Fellow TFA writer Matt Lo already released his waiver wire rankings yesterday afternoon. But, I want to go a bit deeper. So, grab that shovel and let’s start digging. Here are 5 deep league waiver wire adds for week 7

Running Back

Raheem Mostert—San Francisco 49ers

It was all good just a week ago.

Owners who picked up and started Alfred Morris in Week 6 likely uttered those words to themselves at one point or another during last night’s 49ers-Packers game. All week long, the expectation was that Matt Breida would sit and Morris would carry the backfield load for San Francisco. Instead, Breida surprisingly played, and Morris was relegated to the bench as 4th year player Raheem Mostert turned a career-high 12 carries into 87 yards. But what do we make of this situation moving forward? At first glance, it looks as though Mostert could be taking over the role Kyle Shanahan and Co. initially pegged for Breida, while Morris is now on the outside looking in. In any event, Mostert is worth an immediate add, especially when you consider Breida’s injury history and tendency to acquire dents and dings.

Wide Receiver

Josh Reynolds—LA Rams

Despite logging negative yardage in Week 6, Josh Reynolds is once again on the fantasy radar. Cooper Kupp (strained MCL) will miss Week 7 and his availability moving forward is anything but certain. That opens the door for Reynolds to make an immediate impact. Jared Goff has already displayed an ability to support multiple WRs this season with Kupp, Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks all in the midst of productive seasons. With Kupp on the mend, Reynolds is expected to play a near-every down role in Sunday’s tilt against the 49ers. This could be a high-scoring affair if Monday Night Football was any indication. If you’re looking for a BYE week replacement for someone like JuJu Smith-Schuster or Tyler Lockett, Reynolds could be your guy in Week 7.

Jermaine Kearse—NY Jets

The New York Jets have scored a whopping 76 points over the past two weeks, and this week they’ll host the Minnesota Vikings in a game that could be yet another high scoring affair. In Week 6, Jermaine Kearse had by far his most productive game of the season as he hauled in 9 of his 10 targets for a team-high 94 yards. With Quincy Enunwa expected to miss about a month with an ankle injury, Kearse is in line for an every-down role in a Jets passing attack that is suddenly on the rise. With Vikings shutdown corner Xavier Rhodes expected to shadow Robbie Anderson for most of the afternoon, Kearse could once again enjoy a heaping helping of targets out of the slot, making him a solid FLEX play in 12+ team leagues in Week 7.

DJ Moore—Carolina Panthers

DJ Moore had an afternoon to forget in Carolina’s Week 6 loss to the Washington Redskins. Moore lost two fumbles—one in Redskins territory—in what ended up being a one score game that came down to the wire. It was an unfortunate series of events for the rookie, but there are some positives to take away from a fantasy perspective. For starters, Moore’s snap share has gone up in every game this season, culminating with a season-high 43% this past week. Secondly, Moore caught 4-of-5 targets for a career-high 59 yards. While it’s not much, it could be a sign of things to come. The Panthers have also already had their BYE week, making Moore an attractive speculative add with BYE weeks beginning to ramp up. Finally, Carolina’s rest of season schedule is shaping up beautifully from an offensive perspective. After the next two games, things start looking juicy:

If Moore is available in your league, he’s someone I’d consider adding right away before Carolina’s offense takes off in the coming weeks.

That’ll do it for this week’s #GoingDeep adds. As always, we hope you’re enjoying the content over here at The Fantasy Authority We’ll be here all season for all of your fantasy football needs. If you enjoyed this article, I’d love to chat on Twitter @phclapp. Thanks for reading!

I'm a guy who has always enjoyed the written word. Some might say I devote too much time to fantasy football. But to them I say, if you enjoy something, pursue it to the best of your ability. With that being said, I'm also a big fan of swimming laps, playing basketball and yelling obscenities in loud bars. Looking to banter about fantasy football or anything at all?
