DFS Bargain Hunting: Week 2

tyrell williams dfs bargain hunting week 2

Cutting coupons. It’s a tedious task. You sift through the online ads, or sit at the dining room table with your scissors and circular. You go to the store with your clippings or print outs and search for your items. It’s not fun by any means, but the work is justified by the money you save at the end of a trip. Some people will even go as far as to shop around at several stores to truly find the best deal. Some think it’s crazy. Why not fork over a little extra money to save some time? Trust me, I get it. However, I will never argue with anyone who is trying to save a little extra change, especially in DFS. And thankfully, we aren’t doing any actual grocery shopping this week.  Let’s get to DFS Bargain Hunting: Week 2.

DraftKings $5,300 $50,000 10.6%
FanDuel $7,500 $60,000 12.5%
FantasyDraft $11,100 $100,000 11.1%

The curious case of Josh Allen continued in week one. He turned the ball over a total of four times! Somehow he managed to salvage his fantasy day with 10 carries for 38 yards and a rushing touchdown, almost hitting 20 points. This week he gets a Giants defense that was tuned up by the Dallas Cowboys a week ago. I really like this matchup for Allen. His retooled receiving core has the speed to get by this turn-style of a defense the Giants have. You saw Dak and the Cowboys gash them for multiple big plays downfield, which is Josh Allen’s calling card. The turnovers are hard to stomach, but if he can keep them to a minimum, he may just mess around and get you 25+ fantasy points. I think he is in play everywhere, but DraftKings and FantasyDraft are the sweet spots.

RUNNINGBACK – Austin Ekeler

DraftKings $6,100 $50,000 12.2%
FanDuel $7,500 $60,000 12.5%
FantasyDraft $12,900 $100,000 12.9%

Austin Ekeler lit it up in the absence of Melvin Gordon. Ekeler is known for being a point per touch monster which is exactly what he was on Sunday. He and the Chargers will now go on the road to face a middling Lions team. David Johnson was heavily involved for the Cardinals a week ago in Arizona, and I expect Ekeler to be similarly utilized here. When prices first came out, Ekeler might have been too rich for some people. Now the price looks way too cheap in my eyes. The Chargers will be without tight end Hunter Henry and probably wide receiver Mike Williams this Sunday. This means one thing, the Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler show. If you thought they were the focal point of the offense this past Sunday, just wait until you see them this week. Ekeler is one of my favorite plays on the slate.

WIDE RECEIVER – Tyrell Williams

DraftKings $4,400 $50,000 8.8%
FanDuel $5,900 $60,000 9.8%
FantasyDraft $9.400 $100,000 9.4%

Tyrell “the Gazelle” Williams was a Monday Night Football standout. In the wake of the Antonio Brown saga, he and Darren Waller stepped up big time for Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders. Now they will welcome another division rival to town when they play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The Chiefs should not have too much difficulty taking care of business here. The Raiders will likely have to pass to keep up with Mahomes which would spell another heavy dose of the Williams-Waller combo. The Chiefs defense is also suspect, and if Derek Carr didn’t have trouble with Denver, I don’t expect him to have much against Kansas City. Take advantage of these Monday Night misprices on Tyrell Williams and Darren Waller this week. He is especially affordable on DraftKings.

TIGHT END – T.J. Hockenson

DraftKings $3,000 $50,000 6%
FanDuel $6,000 $60,000 10%
FantasyDraft $7,700 $100,000 7.7%

T.J. Hockenson burst onto the scene in week one. He showed why he the Lions selected him with a first-round pick in last spring’s draft. FanDuel corrected their price to match his new role. DraftKings and FantasyDraft appear slow to catch up though. The Chargers were middle of the pack last season at allowing fantasy points to the tight end position. That was in large part due to the play of rookie Derwin James. Now with James on the shelf for a little while, the Chargers might be a little more susceptible than usual. Combine that with the fact that Hockenson is a matchup problem for even the best defenses. The pace in this game worries me, but if the Chargers can get ahead, Hockenson will definitely be used to help the Lions mount a comeback.

DEFENSE – Houston Texans

DraftKings $2,800 $50,000 5.6%
FanDuel $4,800 $60,000 8%
FantasyDraft $6,500 $100,000 6.5%

The Houston Texans came up ever so short in their Monday Night Football season opener. Losing on a last-second field goal as time expired would leave any team with a sour taste in their mouth. Now in week two, the Texans will head back home to face the Jaguars. The rejuvenated divisional rivalry with Nick Foles under center will have to wait a little longer now that he will be out a few weeks. Enter rookie quarterback Garnder Minshew II. His legend has already eclipsed unprecedented heights, but the Houston Texans defense might have something to say about that. They looked awesome for the majority of Monday night’s game before Drew Brees led a surgical comeback. Now facing a rookie gunslinger, the turnovers could come in bunches. They are a great play on both DraftKings and FantasyDraft.
