DFS Bargain Hunting Week 8

jonnu smith dfs bargain hunting week 8

Cutting coupons. It’s a tedious task. You sift through the online ads or sit at the dining room table with your scissors and circular. You go to the store with your clippings or print outs and search for your items. It’s not fun by any means, but the work is justified by the money you save at the end of a trip. Some people will even go as far as to shop around at several stores to truly find the best deal. Some think it’s crazy. Why not fork over a little extra money to save some time? Trust me, I get it. However, I will never argue with anyone who is trying to save a little extra change, especially in DFS. And thankfully, we aren’t doing any actual grocery shopping this week. Here’s DFS Bargain Hunting Week 8.

QUARTERBACK – Kyler Murray

DraftKings $6,200 $50,000 12.4%
Fanduel $7,400 $60,000 12.3%
FantasyDraft $11,000 $100,000 11%

K1’s price had been steadily on the rise, but when you take a look at this week’s pricing you notice a steep decrease, especially on DraftKings. Murray and the Cardinals will go on the road to New Orleans to face a Saints team that hopes to have Drew Bress back under center. Even if he doesn’t return this week, the Saints have been surging with Teddy Bridgewater. I don’t think that will stop here with the porous Cardinals defense. In this case, Kyler will have to be active with both his arms and legs if the Cardinals have any shot of staying in this game. A couple of things to note on Kyler if you are hesitant. In two of his past four games, Murray has scored 17+ DK points…without throwing a passing touchdown. Murray also has double-digit rush attempts each of the past 3 weeks. I think Murray offers the perfect blend of price, game environment, and upside this week.

DraftKings $4,900 $50,000 9.8%
Fanduel $5,200 $60,000 8.6%
FantasyDraft $10,100 $100,000 10.1%

The Lions were forced to put Kerryon Johnson on IR this week after undergoing a procedure on his right knee. In his stead, it will be a mixture of Ty Johnson, J.D. McKissic, Tra Carson, and Paul Perkins. I am curious to see how the workload shakes out, but Ty Johnson figures to get the first crack. If he was a tad bit cheaper across the industry, I think he would be a slam dunk lock. However, I think he still offers a great opportunity for savings with the matchup and pass-heavy attack of the Lions. My only advice would be to not assume Johnson gets a full clip of carries and targets with the guys mentioned above figuring to get a chunk of work.

DraftKings $5,800 $50,000 11.6%
Fanduel $6,100 $60,000 10.1%
FantasyDraft $11,000 $100,000 11%

Golden Tate has hit the ground running with Daniel Jones since returning from his four-game suspension. He has seen at least 6 targets in each of his first 3 games, and 9+ in 2 of those contests. Pat Shurmur also stated that its a “strong possibility” Sterling Shepherd is unable to go this week. If that is the case again, Tate will see a “Lion’s” share of the targets. Speaking of the Lions, you may remember that Golden Tate once wore the silver and blue not too long ago. I would expect him to have a little extra motivation this week when the Giants’ visit the Motor City. Targets, check. Narrative street, check. Bargain price across the industry, check.

TIGHT END – Jonnu Smith

DraftKings $2,800 $50,000 5.6%
Fanduel $4,900 $60,000 8.1%
FantasyDraft $5,500 $100,000 5.5%

Jonnu Smith figures to see increased opportunities this week with Delanie Walker’s status in question. Walker was unable to practice as late as Thursday so his prospects to play this week look dim at best. Smith saw basically a full game’s worth of run in week 7 and with that put up 3 catches on 3 targets for 64 yards. He and his Titans teammates resembled a much better offense with Ryan Tannehill under center. The Titans will give Derrick Henry his usual work, but it would be in their best interest to attack this Tampa Bay defense through the air. If they are unable to get Henry going, each of Corey Davis, A.J. Brown, and Jonnu Smith should be in for solid volume.

DEFENSE –  Buffalo Bills

DraftKings $3,000 $50,000 6%
Fanduel $4,300 $60,000 7.1%
FantasyDraft $6,400 $100,000 6.4%

The Buffalo Bills will get a home matchup against a reeling Eagles team who just got the breaks beat off of them in Dallas. People may be fearful of rostering a defense against a guy like Carson Wentz, or a once high powered offense like Philadelphia’s, but let me be the first to say I am not. The Eagles have no identity at the moment and are in the middle of multiple locker room feuds. Even if you think the Bills are a paper contender, you still have to give their defense props as they have one of the best units in the league.
