NFL DFS Week 3 Bargain Hunting

Week 3 NFL DFS Bargains

Cutting coupons. It’s a tedious task. You sift through the online ads, or sit at the dining room table with your scissors and circular. You go to the store with your clippings or print outs and search for your items. It’s not fun by any means, but the work is justified by the money you save at the end of a trip. Some people will even go as far as to shop around at several stores to truly find the best deal. Some think it’s crazy. Why not fork over a little extra money to save some time? Trust me, I get it. However, I will never argue with anyone who is trying to save a little extra change, especially in DFS. And thankfully, we aren’t doing any actual grocery shopping this week. Enjoy my NFL DFS Week 3 bargain hunting.

NFL DFS Week 3 Bargain Hunting

QUARTERBACK – Kyler Murray

DraftKings $5,800 $50,000 11.6%
Fanduel $7,200 $60,000 12%
FantasyDraft $10,500 $100,000 10.5%

After a slow start in their first game, Murray and the Cardinals haven’t looked back. The rookie quarterback went on the road in week two to face a difficult test in Baltimore. Although he didn’t record a passing touchdown, he managed to go for over 300 yards again. He will now return back home to Arizona where he will face a well-rested Panthers team. It is looking more and more likely that Kyle Allen will be the quarterback opposite him also. This could be the breakout game we have been waiting for from Murray. Murray has developed a solid rapport with ageless wonder Larry Fitzgerald and the up and coming Christian Kirk. If you are looking for a true punt to pair with Murray this week, consider Damiere Byrd. He has registered 7 targets in back to back games and gets a revenge matchup here against Carolina. Another reason to love Murray aside from his cheap price is that he has done basically all of his scoring through the air. To date, he has only rushed 6 times for 17 yards. We know Murray is perfectly capable of turning one loose on any play.

RUNNING BACK – Miles Sanders

DraftKings $3,900 $50,000 7.8%
Fanduel $5,400 $60,000 9%
FantasyDraft $7,700 $100,000 7.7%

If you opt-out of the traditional strategy of paying down at quarterback this week, I don’t blame you. Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are on another level in terms of fantasy production so far this season. If you are investing in the floor/upside combo with either guy, you will need salary relief elsewhere. Miles Sanders could be someone to consider at the running back position. Sanders’ rookie season has not gotten off to a hot start. While it is a bit concerning, Sanders has still managed to lead all Eagles running backs in snaps over their first two games. Sanders has also logged double-digit carries while also being the primary receiving back. As a 6 point home favorite this Sunday, Sanders could be in line for a potential statement game. He is cheap everywhere, but even more so on FantasyDraft and DraftKings.

WIDE RECEIVER – Calvin Ridley

DraftKings $5,300 $50,000 10.6%
Fanduel $6,500 $60,000 10.8%
FantasyDraft $10,500 $100,000 10.5%

Calvin Ridley is off to an incredible start to his sophomore season. Once thought of as a touchdown-dependent fantasy option, he is now just behind Julio Jones in the Atlanta Falcons pecking order. So far this season he has seen eight targets per game. Ridley’s success should continue here in a sneaky week three shootout between the Falcons and Colts. There are many cheap receiving options this week that you can make a case for, one being Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald figures to be a bit popular this week, which is why I think Ridley shapes up as a solid tournament option on every site.

TIGHT END – Zach Ertz

DraftKings $5,700 $50,000 11.4%
Fanduel $6,900 $60,000 11.5%
FantasyDraft $11,900 $100,000 11.9%

Paying up at tight end is not something that is generally encouraged. This week figures to be an exception in my eyes. There is no denying the connection that Zach Ertz and Carson Wentz have, one that will be accentuated in the absence of Desean Jackson and Alshon Jeffrey. I think it is an interesting exercise to compare Ertz to wide receivers who are similar to his price. For instance, on DraftKings Ertz’ price is around guys like D.J. Moore and John Brown. Paying for Ertz feels a bit more logical when you put it like this. When his fellow teammates went down last week, Ertz saw a whopping 16 targets. I would say he is a lock to see at least 10 this week.

DEFENSE –  San Francisco 49ers

DraftKings $3,200 $50,000 6.4%
Fanduel $3,700 $60,000 6.1%
FantasyDraft $6,600 $100,000 6.6%

It will be interesting to see how defensive ownership shakes out this week. The Cowboys and Patriots are the cream of the crop as far as options go. With that said, many might still look to pay down given the high variance of scoring. The 49ers grade out as a nice option in a home matchup against second-year quarterback Mason Rudolph. Rudolph will take over for the injured Ben Roethlisberger who is out for the season. He could be in for tough sledding against a 49ers defense that is rounding into form. They have allowed under 20 points in both games this season and have also forced 5 turnovers to go along with 7 sacks. I think they are an awesome option if you don’t feel like paying all the way up at this position.
