Week 10 FanDuel Picks for Cash Games

michael thomas week 13 starts and sits

After a brief hiatus, we’re back for the Week 10 FanDuel picks for cash games. The first thing popping out to me is the near $2k difference between Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley. Then you have some high-priced quarterbacks in some really nice spots. Make sure you’re checking out our DFS DegeNation podcast where Kevin and Ryan break down the main slate each and every week. Let’s get right into it!

Quarterback

Jameis Winston vs ARI ($7900) – I’m typically #TeamSpendDown at the quarterback position. I also tend to stay away from Jameis Winston in cash. What could possibly go wrong here? The fact is Winston has thrown for over 300 yards in all but three games this year. He also has multiple touchdowns in all but three. I tend to skip past Winston in cash games because “Bad Jameis” is always lurking underneath the surface, ready to sabotage our fantasy lineups in an instant. Against this putrid Arizona defense though, I don’t see multiple turnovers occurring. We all know Arizona’s secondary gets lit up by damn near everyone (unless your name is Daniel Jones) and the same could be said about Tampa. This game has shootout written all over it which means lots of passing volume. Fire up Winston this week.

If you find yourself in need of some savings, you could drop down slightly to Matt Ryan ($7500) going up against the Saints. For as disappointing as the Falcons have been as a team, the passing game has been a bright spot for fantasy purposes. Ryan has over 300 passing yards AND multiple scores in all but two games this year. In another shootout scenario, we have to assume Ryan will be slinging the ball early and often.

Running Back

As I mentioned in the intro, Christian McCaffrey has been priced up to $10,500. We all know what an absolute stud he is, so I won’t go into detail as to why he’s a good play. If you can fit him in your lineups without feeling gross about the way it turns out, I’ll never tell you that’s a bad idea. Saquon Barkley ($8600) going up against MetLife foe New York Jets is clearly in play as well.

David Montgomery at DET ($6400) – I don’t care if this is a chalky play everyone is talking about. The day is finally here. The one us truthers have been waiting for. Montgomery is finally getting workhorse usage and he now gets a great matchup against the Lions and their shaky defense. Monty has seen a season-high 73% snap share in back to back weeks while handling over 75% of the backfield touches in those same games. Football Outsider’s Weighted Defense metric (puts more emphasis on recent games versus earlier in the season) has Detroit ranked at 26th. Since Detroit’s bye week, they have given up over 160 rushing yards in 3 of 4 games. It’s #MontySZN, y’all.

If you’re looking to save salary while puking in your mouth a bit, Kalen Ballage ($4600) is literally the last running back standing in Miami. With Kenyan Drake traded and Mark Walton suspended, Ballage is the only other back to have taken any snaps.  The matchup against the Colts isn’t worrisome, as they rank 27th in rush DVOA and grade out as PFF’s 31st-ranked run defense.

Along with David Montgomery, Marlon Mack ($7400)  and Devin Singletary ($6700) will also be popular options this weekend.

Wide Receiver

Several of the highly-priced options at receiver this week are in great spots. Michael Thomas ($8700) tops the list and gets the Atlanta Falcons who have gotten torched by anyone (remember Marcus Mariota?) and everyone. Speaking of getting torched by everyone, Mike Evans ($8600) and Chris Godwin ($8200) get to torment the Cardinals secondary.

Christian Kirk at TB ($5700) – In a game with an Over/Under at 51.5 (per FanDuel Sportsbook) and Arizona just a 4.5 point underdog, this game is set up for a fantasy masterpiece. Since returning from injury, Kirk leads the Cardinals in targets, air yards, receptions, and receiving yards. I love stacking Winston with Godwin and running it back with Kirk in this spot.

Robby Anderson vs NYG ($5900) – I’ve said in this article before I don’t mind having a higher variance play in my cash lineups as long as I feel really good about the rest of my roster. I truly think we see Anderson have a solid game today at the very least. The issue with Sam Darnold as of late has been pressure and letting defenses confuse him. The Giants rank 29th in pass rush per PFF while coming in at 28th in pass coverage. Darnold will have enough time to let Anderson slip behind the secondary.

Tight End

Austin Hooper at NO ($6600) – This game has been mentioned throughout the article so I’ll keep this one short and sweet: Hooper is a baller.

Jonnu Smith vs KC ($5100) – Smith is my “cross my fingers and hope for a touchdown” play at tight end this week. Delanie Walker is out again and the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes returning. I’d expect a heavy dose of Derrick Henry early, but after Kansas City starts putting up points, it’ll be time for Ryan Tannehill to start racking up garbage time stats. With Corey Davis sidelined, Smith looks to benefit from game script and available targets.
