Week 14 DFS Value and Where to Find It

Week 14 Value

The regular season is winding down as we are now in week 14. Christian Mccaffrey finds himself as the highest priced running back on both sites this week with Saquon Barkley a close second. It is also worth noting that Rob Gronkowski is priced as a middle of the pack tight end this week on both Fanduel and Draftkings. The game log doesn’t look great, but if Gronk is somewhat healthy he could be an awesome tournament play. Let’s take a look at some Week 14 DFS value plays this week.

QUARTERBACK – Carson Wentz

17th Priced Quarterback on Fanduel ($5,400 out of $60,000)

16th Priced Quarterback on Draftkings ($7.300 out of $50,000)

Carson Wentz will head into Dallas this Sunday with revenge on his mind. This Cowboys team recently went into Philadelphia and got the better of the Birds on the back of Ezekiel Elliott and a stout defensive performance. This is the same defense that also neutralized Drew Brees and the Saints last Thursday night. If the Eagles have any chance of beating Dallas they will have to get it done through the air. Wentz has been aggressively priced down to account for this new tough matchup. I think this could be a slight overreaction however as Wentz has still played at an awesome level this season. On the season, Wentz has posted 20+ DK points in 7 of his 10 games this year. The matchup may scare people away, but for me, the price is too cheap for a player that can produce like Wentz.

RUNNING BACK – Chris Thompson

31st Priced Running Back on Fanduel ($5,600 out of $60,000)

17th Priced Running Back on Draftkings ($5,600 out of $50,000)

This week it looks like Jeff Wilson Jr. and Jaylen Samuels will be quite popular at the running back position so this next name could be a nice, cheap tournament play. Chris Thompson returned this past Monday against the Eagles. He was not very productive but there is reason to believe he can turn it around this Sunday. He will face a Giants team that was just electrified by Tarik Cohen, who is used in a similar way to that of Thompson. Thompson’s 5 targets last week are also encouraging, and I even think there is room for more now with Mark Sanchez under center. Defenses will most likely sell out to stop the Washington rushing attack forcing the Redskins and Mark Sanchez to rely on Thompson to dig them out of a hole on 3rd and long. His price on Draftkings is worth the PPR upside and he is an awesome play on Fanduel at the bottom of the barrel.

WIDE RECEIVER –  Courtland Sutton

31st Priced Wide Receiver on Fanduel ($ out of $60,000)

35th Priced Wide Receiver on Draftkings ($4,500 out of $50,000)

Courtland Sutton will most likely be a chalky play this week, but with good reason. He will look to take over the role of the featured receiver in the wake of Emmanuel Sanders’ Achilles injury. Sutton began this season as a rookie compliment to the veteran duo of Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas. Now with both of them gone, he and rookie teammate DaeSean Hamilton will have to get acclimated to starting roles sooner rather than later. Sutton does already have some rapport with Case Keenum which should bode well for his production as the number one. I am going to treat this situation similar to the one of Kenny Golladay who has experienced the same ascent in the Lions’ receiving corps. His efficiency hasn’t been the greatest, but he will be peppered with targets game in and game out simply due to the lack of options. You can count on Sutton as a cheap source of targets this week and for the remainder of the season.

TIGHT END – Rob Gronkowski

7th Priced Tight End on Fanduel ($6,200 out of $60,000)

6th Priced Tight End on Draftkings ($4,800 out of $50,000)

It is unfamiliar to see a name like Rob Gronkowski in the middle of the tight end salaries rather than in the upper echelon. In week 14 we get the opportunity to take advantage of an extraordinary discount on a player we have seen dominate the league. This season has been a bit of a rocky road for the often injured tight end as he has not been able to have the explosive performances we are accustomed to since week 1. Gronk’s targets have been a bit up and down as of late which isn’t the greatest sign. However, the only thing I am ever concerned about with Gronk is whether he is healthy or not. It appears that Gronk will have a clean bill of health heading into this middle of the pack matchup against the Miami Dolphins. I don’t know about you but I am willing to roll the dice here.

DEFENSE – New York Giants

19th Priced Defense on Fanduel ($3,500 out of $60,000)

10th Priced Defense on Draftkings ($2,500 out of $50,000)

This may be a bit of a reach for what’s been one of the worst defenses in the league this season, but I think they are firmly in play this week. The New York Giants will have a date with Mark Sanchez this Sunday. Sanchez was forced into a starting role once Colt Mccoy left the game, leaving the Redskins with barely any semblance of a passing attack. Outside of fluke 90 yard rushing touchdown from Adrian Peterson, the Eagles were able to shut the Redskins down with Sanchez under center. With the Giants playing at home and with this matchup against Sanchez, I would fully expect them to return value.
