Another Sunday, another millionaire minted. Week 2 was much tighter than Week 1. Let’s look at Draftkings $4.6 million Roman Fantasy Football Millionaire to see how things shook out Sunday.
Some quick notes about the contest:
Entry:$20
Entrants: 262,212
Max Entry: 150
Positions paid: 61,250 (23.25%)
Min Cash: 1.5 ($30)
Cash line: 153.98
Week 2’s Millionaire maker was unbelievably tight at the top. Hundreds of thousands of dollars swung on one yard here or there. The difference between the $1 million first-place prize and $100,000 for third was 0.3 points. Or three lousy receiving/rushing yards. Crueler still was the 0.1 point that separated 1st and 2nd. One yard created an $850,00 chasm…
$850,000 swung on 0.1 point.
JEREMYHEIN mustered juuuuust enough points to take home week 2’a biggest prize. He turned his 26 entries and $520 into the monster payday. The Chiefs-Steelers paid dividends and Jeremy was able to find some low-owned pieces in the high-total tilt. He also faded James Conner, pivoting to the much lower owned CMC. Sammy Watkins eschewed the “not on the same page with Mahomes” narrative with a big game. Travis Kelce found pay dirt twice with sub-5% ownership. Stephon Diggs did the same with sub-4% ownership, despite the cotton-soft matchup. And Phillip Lindsay put JEREMYHEIN ahead for good when he got his 100-yard bonus.
4u2nvagain found success with a similar KC-Pitt stack. They also found a very low-owned piece of the game in Jesse James. 4u2nvagain turned their 5 entries and $100 investment into $150,000. A life-changing afternoon for the majority of DFS players, but 4u2nvagain will surely remember that single yard and elusive 0.1 point for a long, long time.
APearls3206 rounded out the top-3. Their top-scoring lineup out of three entries was another KC-Pitt stack, but this team featured two tight-ends. The $8,700 salary spent on the dueling tight-ends returned 61.7. If only for one sack from the Rams or 4 yards receiving/rushing from the right player… Instead, $100,000 will have to suffice.

He really got well over the field with Diggs, Lindsay, and Watkins. It’s fortunate he chose Lindsay and Diggs with this Mahomes team. Also interesting to note none of his highest owned players (Gurley, David Njoku, and Antonio Brown) were on each on 10/26 teams, but none on the winning roster.

There doesn’t appear to be anything too striking here. George Kittle let the most people down. Even accounting for recency bias it’s a little surprising to see Jared Cook so highly owned going into Denver. Players were eager to stream the healthy Texans defense against backup Blaine Gabbert-helmed Titans. At $2,600 and facing the seemingly impotent Titans, the Texans seemed like an obvious bargain. And they didn’t ruin anyone’s day but were outscored by cheaper lower-owned options like the Bucs.

It was a good week for quarterbacks. Seven out of the top-10 scorers were signal callers. Roethlisberger outscored Mahomes but was also $800 more. Adam Thielen and Diggs were both really low-owned despite showing a strong connection with “You Vike That” Cousins in week 1 and a soft matchup in week 2’s potential shootout with Green Bay.

Congratulations to JEREMYHEIN on what was surely an amazing Sunday. Less than five days until Draftkings crowns a new Millionaire. Hopefully, we will be talking about your lineup next week. Run well in the meantime.
