Week Two NFL Matchups To Take Advantage Of

week two nfl matchups clyde edwards-helaire fantasy

Last week we went 8-8 in the 16 matchups week one gave us, let us dive into week two NFL matchups, shall we?

Thursday Night

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns: Nick Chubb vs. Bengals DL

The Bengals will be missing Geno Atkins on the defensive front which means Nick Chubb should have a “full steam ahead” order against the Bengals. They will need to rely on him heavily as it seems Baker is still having issues growing and progressing as year three starts. It doesn’t hurt that in his career he averages over 100 total yards per game.

Sunday 1 P.M Games

New York Giants vs. Chicago Bears: Darius Slayton vs. Bears DBs

It seems the connection Daniel Jones and Darius Slayton built last year has not cooled off despite the weird offseason we had. The pair connected early and often including finding the endzone two times on Monday night. Slayton’s 91 air yards ranked fifth last week – trailing only Julio Jones, Davante Adams, Calvin Ridley, and Adam Thielen. The Bears are still having some struggles in the secondary which makes this a matchup I’m attacking every chance I can.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Aaron Donald vs. Eagles OL

The Washington Football Team got to Carson Wentz eight times Week 1. Eight!! Aaron Donald showed on Sunday night that he is already in midseason form and is primed to dominate again on his way to another DPOY. Pair that with the issues the Eagles line has in terms of injuries and I would be watching this situation like a hawk.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Dallas Cowboys: Falcons Entire Offense vs. Cowboys Defense

The entire Falcons offense showed it’s coming out firing with impressive performances by Matt Ryan, Todd Gurley, Julio Jones, and Calvin Ridley. I think we see more of the same this week as the Cowboys have a rough go of it in front of a home crowd in Dallas.

Carolina Panthers vs. Tompa Bay Buccaneers: Scotty Miller vs. Panthers DBs

Chris Godwin is in concussion protocol at the time of writing this article, if he is out I expect Miller to take on 10+ targets. He had six last week and Godwin had seven so for him to get some of those, obviously, Mike Evans will too, makes him a must-start in leagues as a flex if Godwin is out.

San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Jets: Permanent Ink vs. Jeff’s Buttocks

Just going to leave this here in terms of an explanation… boom

Denver Broncos vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Steelers DL vs. Denver RBs

Saquan Barkley had six yards on 15 carries Monday night against Pittsburgh. SIX!!! I don’t expect Melvin Gordon to be held to that low of an amount but he’s also not going to be productive in any form this week against the best defense in the NFL.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans: Derrick Henry vs. Jags LBs

Derrick Henry in his career averages over 100 yards per game and I think after a slow start last week he gets the green light to go all out this week against a regular foe. Henry still has tremendous expectations after the contract so having a big week this week would go a long way to proving the doubters wrong.

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers vs. Lions DBs

Another player going against a regular opponent, Aaron Rodgers goes against Detroit this week. In his career, he averages over 250 yards and nearly three scores a game against the Lions which makes him a must-start along with his receiving corp.

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins: Bills DL vs. Fins RBs

This Bills defense is a monster and the Dolphins still are a mess on offense. Fitzpatrick and his erratic ways make things difficult in terms of the time of possession but then you add in the lead back for Miami somehow being Myles Gaskin? Woof.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Indianapolis Colts: Jonathan Taylor vs. Vikings DL

This will be Jonathan Taylor’s coming out party for the whole NFL. The Vikings defense couldn’t stop Rodgers and the Packers last week and while I think the Vikings have the better team I think Rivers will be using Taylor in the running game and passing game early and often. I project a 20+ point week from Taylor this week.

Sunday 4:00 P.M Games

Washington Football Team vs. Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray vs. Washington DL

I don’t expect the Washington Football Team to duplicate the crazy success that they had against Philadelphia against the Cardinals. Kyler Murray is much more mobile and aware in the pocket than Wentz. I think Murray continues his hot start against a better-than-thought Washington team with another strong performance through the air and on the ground.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans: David Johnson vs. Baltimore Defense

Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt combined for 135 yards on the ground and with Duke Johnson expected to be ruled out its all on David Johnson’s shoulders Sunday. Johnson seems to be back to his old way before the injuries after a strong week one. Despite going against a tough Baltimore defense I think Johnson finds a way to be productive.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Clyde Edwards-Helaire vs. Expectations

Clyde Edwards-Helaire came out hot to start the 2020 NFL season for everyone! He proved he will be a fun part of Andy Reid’s offense and fill that Brian Westbrook role that he has been waiting to fill for 10+ years now. CEH is the real deal and will be an important part of this offense for the foreseeable future.

New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks: D.K. Metcalf vs. Stephon Gillmore

This is going to be a long night for D.K. Metcalf. Stephon Gilmore is far too fluid and good of a corner for someone like Metcalf to get the better of. Tyler Lockett may be able to but I don’t think Metcalf is a start this week if you can avoid it.

Monday Night Game

New Orleans Saints vs. Las Vegas Raiders: Saints DBs vs. Raiders WRs

The Raiders’ WR group is incredibly young and inexperienced and their most explosive player is dealing with a knee injury. I am a Hunter Renfrow fan but I just don’t like this matchup for him or any of the receivers. Lattimore especially will have a hot hand after holding Mike Evans to just one catch for two yards, avoid all Raiders receivers!
