Last week we went 9-7 in the 16 matchups, now stand at 25-23 for the season! Let us dive into the Week 4 matchups and see if we can hit over .500 two weeks in a row!
Thursday Night Football
Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets
Jerry Jeudy vs. Jets’ Secondary
Jeudy has been averaging nearly ten targets per game. Even last week with Drew Lock out and two different quarterbacks playing, he was still getting them. This week he will have Brett Rypien who, without Courtland Sutton, will be looking for a security blanket. I expect that to be Jerry Jeudy and he will find the endzone for the first time in his career.
Sunday Afternoon Games
New Orleans Saints vs. Detroit Lions
Alvin Kamara vs. Lions’ Defense
Matt Patricia just hasn’t been able to create this defensive mastery that he was in New England. Like many Bill Belichick disciples, he seems to have found that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. This defense is certainly taking its fair share of licks and I expect Kamara to have a big week as the Patricia era gets closer to ending.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Scotty Miller vs. Chargers’ Secondary
Two weeks ago I predicted a big week with Chris Godwin out due to a concussion and now with Godwin out due to a hamstring issue I am calling my shot again! Miller has proven to be a reliable target for Tom Brady and going forward with Godwin out I think that role expands further.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow vs. Jaguars’ Defense
Joe Burrow is on pace to join Kyler Murray among the recent rookies to finish as a fantasy QB1. He currently has more fantasy points than Lamar Jackson, crazy, and this Jaguars defense isn’t going to stop that trend. After giving up nearly 30 points to Ryan Fitzpatrick, I think Burrow will be able to almost replicate that.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Houston Texans
Deshaun Watson vs. Vikings’ Defense
Watson has had a rough go of things since getting his extension but this Vikings defense has been a shell of itself this year. Watson may be really missing Hopkins this year but he seems to be getting in a groove with Randall Cobb who seems to be his security blanket. Once he is comfortable I think he will get into a grove and put up a top-five fantasy week.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Miami Dolphins
DeeJay Dallas vs. Dolphins Run Defense
Dallas hasn’t had any rushing attempts yet this year but when you are a fourth-round pick and the starter is out you will pick up a snap or two. Dallas can be a dual-threat out of the backfield and was seen as a dark horse before the season. Being behind Carson did hurt some value but Dallas has the skillset to make a big impact this week and beyond while Carson is out.
Cleveland Browns vs. Dallas Cowboys
Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt vs. Injured Cowboys Run Defense
Chubb and Hunt have combined for over 350 yards over the last two games. Stefanski seems to finally have this offense in a groove and it’s all in part to this running game. The Cowboys are missing linebacker Leighton Vander Esch in the run support and currently, their only way to stop running backs is to tackle with an alligator roll. Look for a big week again from this running duo.
Carolina Panthers vs. Arizona Cardinals
Kenyan Drake vs. Carolina Front Seven
Drake has yet to eclipse the hundred-yard mark, but that changes this week. Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins have been on a tear to start the season but Drake has yet to get going, this Panthers defense does not apply pressure and it does not penetrate the offensive front. That combo should spell doom for the Panthers and bloom for the Cardinals and Kenyan Drake.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Chicago Bears
Colts Defense vs. Chicago Bears Offense
This Colts defense does not get the hype it deserves, a value in DFS, and any league still using defenses, the Colts defense is a force to be reckoned with. The perfect melting pot of veterans like Justin Houston and younger cornerstones like Darius Leonard make it lethal. The Bears with a full week of Foles taking first-team reps will be interesting but ultimately less than impressive against this defense.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Washington Football Team
Mark Andrews vs. Washington Defense
Last week tight ends Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant saw a lot of work and targets against this Washington defense. Andrews is more talented than both of them and he is a favorite of Lamar Jackson’s. After a disappointing week against Kansas City Andrews will be looking to make a bounce back and I think he does it against Washington. Maybe for even 100 yards and a score?
New York Giants vs. Los Angeles Rams
Rams Running Backs vs. Coaching Staff
I always throw a unique pick in and this week this is it. We saw Darrell Henderson go over the century mark in Cam Akers’s absence but going forward what do we do? I’m staying away from this backfield unless I simply can’t. All together they can produce but individually it’s almost impossible to get right.
New England Patriots vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Clyde Edwards-Helaire vs. Patriots LBs
This defense is still a top ten defense but without Donta Hightower securing the second level I see CEH getting a lot more work – not just in the run game but also in the passing game. We are still waiting on that big reception game and I think with Gilmore covering Kelce and Hill we may see just that.
Buffalo Bills vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Hunter Renfrow vs. Bills Secondary
“It’s going to be Bryan Edwards season!” is a phrase we have heard time and again but guess what? It isn’t. Renfrow was Mr. Reliable for Deshaun Watson at Clemson and now with the Raiders, he has proven to be the same for Derek Carr. Take Advantage of that! The Renfrow well is something Carr keeps coming back to so you should too.
Sunday Night Game
Philadelphia Eagles vs. San Francisco 49ers
Jalen Hurts vs. 49ers Defense
My prediction for this matchup isn’t going to be stat related, I think Wentz has a rough go of it again and is eventually pulled for rookie and Heisman runner up Jalen Hurts.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Green Bay Packers
Packers Pass Rush vs. Falcons Offensive Line
Last year the Packers introduced the NFL to the dynamic Smith duo, pair that pass rush tornado with a trailer park of an offensive line and we know what the results will be. Poor Matt Ryan has been getting eaten alive and unfortunately, I see that continuing with a rough night on Monday.
