Week 12 is upon us and that means no more bye weeks! Hooray!!! In all seriousness, I hope that my Streaming Options articles for the 1st 11 weeks helped you to win your matchups. Despite some underperformances by my QB selections for Week 11, it will not deter my efforts to provide the best possible QB and DST streaming targets Week 12. I’m not saying that they’ll be the top scorers at their respective positions, but they should do enough to keep your team competitive in Week 12 if you need some assistance. Without further ado, here are the Week 12 Streaming Options for QB and DST.
Let’s get after it!!!
Before we move on to the QB and DST Week 12 streaming options, I’ll review the complete results at the quarterback position from last week’s article:
Eli Manning– 205 Passing Yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, 5 Rushing Yards= 8.70 FP
Blake Bortles– 154 Passing Yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 4 Rushing Yards= 8.56 FP
Jay Cutler– 83 Passing Yards, 1 TD, 3 INTs, 1 Rushing Yard= 4.42 FP
Case Keenum– 280 Passing Yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 20 Rushing Yards= 17.20 FP
Joe Flacco– 183 Passing Yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, -1 Rushing Yard= 10.22 FP
Ryan Fitzpatrick– 275 Passing Yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, 9 Rushing Yards= 19.90 FP
Andy Dalton | Cincinnati Bengals
Dalton turned in one of the most surprising Week 11 performances, tossing three touchdowns against a once great Denver secondary. The yardage wasn’t great (154 passing yards), but he tossed three touchdowns and no interceptions. It’s safe to say that Dalton rewarded any fantasy owner brave enough to stick with him against the Broncos.
In Week 12, Dalton returns home for a divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns. While many focus on Dalton’s poor splits against common opponents, a rather leaky Browns pass defense might be just what the doctor ordered. Over his last five bouts with Cleveland, Dalton threw 13 TDs and no interceptions. He’s a fine streamer in one-quarterback leagues and should finish the week as a mid-to-low QB1.
Blake Bortles | Jacksonville Jaguars
In Week 11, uncooperative wintery weather off the shores of Lake Erie limited Bortles in what appeared to be a cake matchup against the Browns. Many streamed Bortles for this reason, but sustained gusts of 20-25 MPH winds limited both teams’ passing attacks. Fantasy owners were lucky to come away with the one touchdown that Bortles did manage.
Despite the slow outing, Bortles sets up as a solid streamer in Week 12. This time his team travels to the Arizona desert where cold and windy weather won’t be a deterrent. In addition, the Cardinals’ defense represents one of the more generous units regarding fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. To give perspective, Arizona just allowed Tom Savage to throw for 230 yards and two touchdowns in Week 11.
Jacoby Brissett | Indianapolis Colts
Brissett suffered a concussion during Week 10, but recovered over his bye week and should start against divisional rival Tennessee in Week 12. The Titans’ pass defense rank 24th in pass defense DVOA before Week 11. Look for that number to worsen after Tennessee allowed a struggling Ben Roethlisberger to shred them for four passing touchdowns during TNF. Brissett isn’t an every-week starter but he’s shown to be trustworthy in favorable matchups. He’s a solid option in two-quarterback leagues for Week 12.
Joe Flacco | Baltimore Ravens
Flacco didn’t have the big game that we all hoped for against the Packers in Week 11. This is mostly due to Brett Hundley literally handing the game over the suffocating Ravens defense. The large lead allowed Flacco to comfortably settle into game manager mode en route to a 23-0 shoutout. Look for Flacco to bounce back against a Texans pass defense destroyed by opposing quarterbacks all season. They allowed THIRD-STRING Cardinals quarterback Blaine Gabbert to throw for 257 yards and three touchdowns in Week 11. Look for Flacco to post excellent fantasy numbers in Week 12.
Case Keenum | Minnesota Vikings
While it’s no secret that the Vikings want to turn the reins over to Teddy Bridgewater, Keenum continues to hold Teddy off with solid performances. In Week 11, he led his offense against a tough Los Angeles Rams defense, passing for 280 yards and one touchdown in their 24-7 victory. With an upcoming contest on Thanksgiving against the Lions, it’s very unlikely they start Bridgewater now. Keenum falls in teh QB2 tier due to the less-than-ideal matchup, but he should be able to do just enough to warrant another fantasy start in two-quarterback formats.
The Browns are the only winless team in the NFL, and no team turns it over more (28). Cleveland’s offense ranks next to last in yards per play (4.6) and are tied for the fourth most sacks allowed (32), according to Pro-Football-Reference. Cincinnati ranks near the bottom of the barrel in turnovers forced, but they’re excellent at pressuring the passer (tied for fourth with 29). This coupled with Cleveland’s turnover-prone-ways bode well for Cincinnati defense to add to the season turnover total in Week 12.
New England Patriots
The Patriots defense turned it around since their abysmal first four games. They earned at least eight fantasy points in each of their last three games. Furthermore, their bend-but-don’t-break-style resulted in six straight games of holding their opponents under 20 points. Their high-powered offense should give them a big lead, putting either Jay Cutler (concussion) or Matt Moore in predictable situations. Miami is tied for the fourth most turnovers (17) and tied for the third fewest yards per play (4.8) this year. NE represents an inviting streaming option for Week 12.
The Redskins defense are coming off of two BAD games where they gave up 72 points to their opponents. However, they faced a good Vikings team in Week 10 and the Saints in New Orleans in Week 11. They now draw a Thursday night home game against the Giants who currently are a dumpster fire as an entire organization. This one is all about the matchup, as Eli can have a meltdown with the best of them. In addition, it seems unlikely that Sterling Shepard suits up which leaves Manning with a lack of offensive weapons (besides Evan Engram). Trust the matchup here.
The Panthers defense looked very off in their Week 10 matchup against the Dolphins, in which they registered zero sacks. Despite that effort, they’re still ranked fourth in the NFL in total sacks. The Jets, on the other hand, are fourth in the NFL in total sacks allowed. Assuming that Josh McCown doesn’t pull some sort of magic act, the ceiling is nice and high for the Panthers in Week 12.
The Titans defense is no great shakes as their numbers suggest. However, in the interest of providing a widely-available option to fantasy owners in deeper leagues, they make for a viable matchup-based play. The host Colts are tied for the third fewest yards per play (4.8) and surrendered the most sacks (38) on the season. The Titans are road favorites, so if the game script goes according to the spread, Tennessee should contribute to Colts’ sacks allowed total. The Colts’ give up the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing DST, so though not pretty, the Titans defense could get you some fantasy points.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers put a beatdown on Nathan Peterman and the visiting Bills last week and they have another high-ceiling matchup in Week 12. They’re set to play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving in Dallas. Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith’s status is still unknown and another absence for him would be bad news for Dak Prescott. That’s good news for those looking to stream the Chargers defense. Smith missed two games already and in those contests, the Cowboys scored seven and nine points respectively. They also failed to eclipse even 235 yards of total offense, coughed up six turnovers, and yielded 12 sacks.
LA’s Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram combined for 19 sacks in 10 games this year and that duo will cause problems for Dallas, especially if Smith is ruled out. The Los Angeles defense has a plus matchup for Week 12 so use them with confidence in your DST spot.
