The boys are back to hit you with their Week 3 Tight End Streamers article. Robby, Ben, and Nate give you their favorite TE streamers for you to target this week. After you see their picks, don’t forget to check out our in-depth Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickups article!
Ben – Jordan Reed (ESPN rostered %: 5.6%)
I know what you’re thinking, but no this is not 2016. Jordan Reed looked excellent Sunday against an abysmal Jets team. The 49ers offense was plagued with injuries in week two, including injuries to starting stud tight end George Kittle, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, and starting running back Raheem Mostert. Nick Mullens is a solid backup QB but with a lack of the primary offensive weapons, he may lean on his big pass-catching TE. Jordan Reed matches up against a weak Giants team in week three and could be in for a big game.
Nate – Jonnu Smith (ESPN rostered %: 40.3%)
In NBA Jam terms, Jonnu is “heating up!”. In both games so far, Smith has at least 5 targets, 4 catches, and a touchdown. His 88th-percentile speed score is legit, as he ripped off a 63-yard catch where he looked more like a receiver or running back than tight end. Now he gets Jacksonville, who is PFF’s easiest matchup for TEs. Ride him one more week, and then try to sell him, because his schedule gets a lot tougher after Week 3.
Robby – Mike Gesicki (ESPN rostered %: 47.7%)
Gesicki will be a player high on people’s waiver wire priorities and for good reason. Gesicki led the Dolphins with 11 targets in Week 2 and is top-12 in routes run of all tight ends through two weeks. He gets to face a Jaguars defense that let Jonnu Smith take them for a ride to the tune of four receptions for 84 yards and two scores. The Jaguars safeties are some of the worst in the league, ranking in the bottom quarter on PFF’s positional grades for 2020. I am all in on firing up a tight end who runs a ton of routes, gets double-digit targets, and has a very good matchup.
