We are chugging along to Week 8 as the injuries and bye weeks continue to make streaming a fun challenge. Ben, Nate, and Robby have you covered in this week’s edition. Let’s jump right into our Week 8 Tight End Streamers.
Ben – Irv Smith Jr (ESPN Roster %: 4.3%)
After a solid rookie year, people predicted that this season would be Irv Smith Jr’s breakout season. He came out the gate slow but has found his stride over the past two games with 8.4 & 9.5 half PPR points respectively. Smith has also out-targeted fellow tight end Kyle Rudolph in both outings. The Vikings have a tough matchup against the Packers this week and will likely be chasing points considering the state of their defense. I anticipate a pass-heavy offensive game plan for the Vikings this week and Irv Smith should continue to carve out his role and get his fair share of targets.
Nate – Richard Rodgers (ESPN Roster %: 4%)
You love the matchup against Dallas, who is the fourth-best matchup for TEs. But what I love is the involvement. In his first game as a starter, Richard Rodgers led the team in receptions and receiving yards (6 for 85). Wentz loves to throw to the TE, and Ertz and Goedert both will be out again in Week 8. Plus, Dallas looks shell-shocked as a team since Dak’s injury. Honestly, the only way Rodgers isn’t a good streamer this week is if Philadelphia gets into a positive game script too quickly.
Robby – Trey Burton (ESPN Roster %: 6.4%)
Trey Burton did not get a real bump in roster additions after a nearly 22 point outing in Week 6 due to his bye week in Week 7. He has led all Colts’ tight ends in targets since returning from injury in Week 4. The Lions have fared pretty well against tight ends, but they also haven’t faced anyone of note with Jimmy Graham or Hayden Hurst being the most prominent opponents. With 16 targets over the past three weeks including three in the red zone, Burton is a good bet to get some a few looks in the red zone.
